You can not convince a believer of anything; for their belief is not based on evidence, it is based on a deep-seated need to believe.
Religion does three things quite effectively: Divides people, Controls people, Deludes people.
Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach a man to fish and he will eat for a lifetime; give a man religion and he will die praying for a fish.
George Bush says he speaks to god every day, and christians love him for it. If George Bush said he spoke to god through his hair dryer, they would think he was mad. I fail to see how the addition of a hair dryer makes it any more absurd.
